D.I.Y. FITTING SKIRTING BOARDS.
before you start fixing skirting boards check that the walls are dry . you can start by cutting the internal corners with a 45degree mitre on both boards , or by putting one piece on the wall and scribing a board to fit the pattern . then you can cut the external mitre at 45degrees , after cutting all the skirting boards to fit check the walls for any pipes or wires , mark the walls clearly before fixing . the best way to fix skirting boards is to first glue the back of the boards then place them on the walls . you will need a 10mm spade bit , drill a 6mm deep hole about 1metre apart then using a masonry bit drill the walls then instert a rawlplug and screw and fix to wall . after fixing all skirting boards make some solid plugs from the left over boards and put over the screws using wood glue . When the plugs are dry cut off with a sharp chisel , you are now ready to finish your skirting boards .
